Before Operational Stress
Designed for First Responders
Before Operation Stress Program (BOS)
Strong Minds Train First
"BOS is a resiliency-based program that empowers public safety employees to take charge of their mental health."
Be the BOS of Your Mental Health
Public safety personnel are exposed to operational stress every day, but the effects of operational stress don’t have to last a lifetime.
This program is designed for Firefighters, Law Enforcement, Medics, Corrections Officers, and all other public safety professions who are at risk of facing on the job trauma. It is about empowering front line employees to be in charge of the effects of operational stress, versus the effects of operational stress being in charge of them.
BOS been developed to serve and protect public safety personnel, as they serve and protect us all.
In Partnership With
In March of 2023 Before Operational Stress and Mobile Health Consultants entered into a partnership, working together to combat front line worker mental health.
“We firmly believe that all paramedicine trainees should have mental health training to support them through their careers. We focus on teaching first responders how to treat other people but it is important to arm them with the tools to manage their own mental health. When I heard about BOS, I knew it was a program that I wanted to offer to the Academy trainees.”
– Dr. Victoria Reinhartz, Chief Executive Officer of Mobile Health Consultants
“BOS believes strong minds train first and we are pleased to partner with the Mobile Health Consultants to offer this program to first responders. Paramedicine is a difficult practice and it is important that those working in the field have the tools they need to support their own mental health. We are exciting as this partnership expands the BOS program to a new group of professionals in the U.S.”
- Dr. Megan McElheran, Founder of BOS
Tens of thousands of public safety personnel and frontline healthcare workers have taken the BOS program across North America and this partnership will encourage more to take control of their mental health.
Why BOS?
Decrease the Effects of Operational Stress
Impacting Lives
BOS uniquely combines theoretical and experiential learning procedures to decrease the effects of operational stress. Our evidence tells us we can mitigate the impact of front line personnel’s work so that they can do their jobs without tragic consequences.
Impacting Lives
While front line personnel will continue to be exposed to operational stress, they are not destined to have their lives ruined by the psychological effects of their work. BOS empowers public safety employees to take charge of their mental health.
BOS Objectives
We know front line personnel need information to protect themselves from the effects of operational stress. Further, we know they need practice and support to incorporate this knowledge & these experiences into their operational roles.
